Facebook cracks down on Russian fake accounts


The Facebook administration decided to close several Russian fake accounts. A move that comes at a time when the using of next year's US presidential election campaign is gaining momentum.





The social network ingesting website Facebook has decided to close dozens of fake Russian accounts. As well as a network that wanted to transmit political messages to American voters, according to details.





According to the foreign news agency, the network is linked to a Russian Internet agency. A responsible organization that was meant to create conflict and confusion during the previous US presidential election.





The Facebook administration has acknowledged that the platform of the organization accessed 16million U.S. citizens during the 2016 presidential election.

In the past months, the Facebook administration has faced severe criticism for fake accounts. This criticism was especially in the context of Russian fake accounts that spread misinformation during the 2016 presidential election.





In 2018, the U.S. Department of Justice accused the Internet Research Agency of using the accounts of individuals to spread misinformation on social media and thus trying to influence American public opinion.
